Kids No Longer Play Behind Bars
Thu, Mar 25, 2010
The prison-themed playground in Bed Stuy is no more, NY1 reports. City officials painted over the bars and sign that read “Jail.” Though the playground was a popular spot to play cops and robbers, residents complained that it might not be quite so much fun for children in the community whose parents were in jail.
There are 105,000 kids in New York State whose parents are in prison. But groups in BedStuy, such as Children of Promise, provide support to over 80 kids who only get to see their parents through bars.

Interesting post and I thought it was a step up from many of the other entries on the site.
