Strong riptides swept away a Brooklyn man and his friend in Westhampton Sunday afternoon. Deng Zheng, 26, and his friend, Xiangyong Chen, 31, were swimming at Cupsogue Beach County Park on Long Island when Zheng and Chen were overcome by a large wave. Zheng was pulled from the water by two lifeguards, but CPR could not save him and he was pronounced dead at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead. Chen wasn’t found by late last night, according to 27east.com
