Famed Brooklyn rap artist Jay-Z and his wife, singer Beyonce Knowles are expecting their first child, US Weekly magazine reported today.

According to a source to the magazine, Knowles is surprised and overjoyed with the pregnancy, which is currently in its first trimester.

Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, is a native of Bedford-Stuyvesant in Brooklyn. He and Knowles were wed in a secret ceremony in New York in 2008. He is set to release his memoir, entitled “Decoded,” in November. Knowles, formerly of the group Destiny’s Child, is coming off a world tour of her 2008 album, “I am…Sasha Fierce.”
