Surge in iPhone Theft Prompts Senator Schumer to Push for Anti-Theft Technology

A Brooklyn man’s iphone was snatched  by two teens on the B-47 bus Monday evening, and found a day later in the hands of a deli worker who bought it off the two thieves. The victim had installed FindMyIphone app, which helped the police track down the stolen phone.

The police charged deli worker, Sadek Abdullah, with criminal possession of stolen property. This is just one of many cell phone thefts that has become more pervasive in New York. Senator Charles Schumer called a press conference on Tuesday to urge cell phone carriers to implement anti-theft technology.
