Wrongly-Convicted Mobster Avoids Return to Prison

Scott Fappiano, an alleged Colombo crime family associate who as wrongly-convicted and spent more than 20 years in jail for raping the wife of an NYPD officer, was sentenced in Brooklyn Federal Court to probation for charges on extortion,  the New York Post reported Wednesday. Brooklyn federal Judge Kiyo Matsumoto said that Fappiano’s time spent in jail for a crime he didn’t commit was a big reason why she gave him a light sentence.
