A Bay Ridge woman is part of a group that is distributing raw milk throughout the city. The milk, which is banned by the Federal Drug Administration because it may contain pathogens, is brought in from cows in Pennsylvania and thought to be healthier by members of the milk club. The Brooklyn Paper reports

Crushed red pepper tests positive for salmonella

Wholesome Spice, a Brooklyn-based company, is recalling 25 lb. boxes of wholesale crushed red pepper sold between 4/6/09 and 1/20/10 after some of their samples were found through testing to contain traces of salmonella. According to the FDA website, the spice is not sold on a retail market and it is unknown if the contamination has caused any outbreaks of the disease at this time
